Strong to severe storms could impact your Saturday night
ATLANTA - The long Fourth of July holiday weekend is kicking off with a chance for some showers and storms, some of which could be severe through late Saturday night.
Storms have already started to fire across North Georgia, and will continue through the evening hours. The bulk of the storms will fade around or shortly after 11pm, so can rest easy tonight.

The Storm Prediction Center has placed a portions of Northwest Georgia under a "slight" risk (or Level 2) for severe weather, the major threats being strong winds and some small hail.
These storms could also produce heavy rainfall, prompting a Flash Flood Watch in our extreme northwestern counties. Keep in mind these storms will be a hit or miss scenario, so this won’t affect everyone.
Areas that do see the storms, the strongest part of the storm should last around 30 minutes to one hour at the most.
Sunday presents another chance for some afternoon showers and storms, although likely not severe. Activity will be scattered though, and otherwise we'll see mainly sunny skies and highs near 90.
Monday and Tuesday (which is the Fourth of July, of course) will be hot with scattered clouds and a chance for a few afternoon showers/storms.
