Strong storms moved through metro Atlanta Thursday

Tupelo Street in downtown Atlanta.

Some strong storms moved through north Georgia on Thursday. It was the start of on-again, off-again rain for the weekend.

Those storms brought a heavy downpour to most of metro Atlanta. FOX 5 viewer Hannah Harden took a time-lapse video showing the storms rolling into Midtown.

The second round of storms moved through later in the evening Thursday ushering in a rainy stretch that could last for a few days.

Those storms Thursday might have also brought down a tree along Tupelo Street in downtown Atlanta.

The downed tree blocked part of the roadway Thursday evening.

The tree also took out power lines, cutting electricity to about 90 Georgia Power customers in the area.

Crews worked throughout the evening to restore the power and clear the debris.

Candler Road was still accessible during the storm.
