Heavy rain with strong to severe storms likely early Sunday

A powerful weekend cold front will bring lots of rain, the risk of a few severe storms, and an abrupt end to our current warming trend!

The severe potential for north Georgia has DECREASED, but it hasn't gone away completely. The Fox 5 Storm Team is still forecasting heavy rain and gusty winds overnight Saturday through midday Sunday. During this time the greatest impact will be heavy rain producing 1"-2"+ of total rainfall. Be aware that standing water and isolated flooding is likely early Sunday morning. Once the main line of thunderstorms moves through your area, lingering showers will continue through Sunday evening, clouds will be slow to clear and a surge of colder air will cool temperatures throughout the day.

There will be another shock of cold air Monday and Tuesday morning before the 70s return the rest of the week.
