ATLANTA - Periods of rain will continue for north Georgia through Tuesday, leaving parts of north Georgia under a Flood Watch. As the back edge of the steadiest rain shifts east of Atlanta this morning, the highest additional rainfall amounts will be across north and northeast Georgia, with 2 inches or more of additional rain through 8 p.m. Monday.
After morning wind and rain, we'll transition to showers and storms that are more scattered in nature. A storm or two near and east-southeast of Atlanta may reach severe levels late today through this evening. Damaging wind gusts would be the concern with any severe storms.
As the slow-moving low-pressure system that is responsible for this wet and stormy weather lifts away from us Tuesday, we'll begin to see fewer showers. However, Tuesday still features mostly cloudy skies and occasional showers. Conditions should dry out by Wednesday.
