State Senate shoots down Buckhead cityhood
For the second time in two years, the push to de-annex Buckhead from the rest of Atlanta appears to be dead. This after the state Senate voted down the measure on Thursday afternoon. The measure was being pushed by rural Republican senators and not by anyone who directly represents the city. Proponents say creating a city would allow them to focus more closely on crime, but opponents say creating city limits would not limit criminals from entering it. The bill would have allowed residents in Buckhead to decide.
