ATHENS, Ga. - An organization called Servants Task Force is raising money to rebuild a veterans’ memorial in Conyers that vandals damaged last December.
Friday, veterans, their families, and some former UGA players gathered at the Walk of Heroes Memorial in Conyers, just ahead of Memorial Day. The group will be offering a unique opportunity for football fans to win memorabilia to help support the restoration project.
Efforts are already underway to bring the monument back to where it was before the vandalism. The organization is hoping to collect about $100,000 by raffling off signed Bulldogs memorabilia. Legendary UGA Head Coach Vince Dooley previously told FOX 5 News he was onboard with the fundraising drive.
Tickets are available this weekend through Veterans Day with the drawing being held November 12. To learn more visit walkofheroes.org and click on the "Ride 4 Walk" tab.
