Pelham girls win GHSA Class A Public title

ATHENS, Ga. (AP) - Mahogany Randall scored 18 points and Mahogany Brown added 17 to lead top ranked Pelham to a 60-42 win over Telfair County in the Georgia High School Association Class A girl's championship.

Pelham (30-1) started the game off strong Wednesday, outscoring Telfair 20-8 and was never threatened. Pelham claimed its first state championship since 1997 and finished the season with an 18-game winning streak.

Pelham's 13-7 run in the third period put the game away. Telfair County (27-3) was led by India Wells with 24 points and eight rebounds, but no other player scored more than four points. The Trojans fell short in the bid for their first championship.

Randall knocked down three 3-pointers and grabbed six rebounds. Willeshia Kemp added 13 points and 14 rebounds.
