Julio and the Falcons: the time is now!

Now that Julio is in camp, it's time to get down to the business of delivering Atlanta its first Super Bowl title!

With Julio essentially playing for a contract this season, it stands to reason that he will be extra motivated to be at his best, which will only help The Brotherhood.

In this, the season Atlanta hosts Super Bowl 53, wouldn't that be something!

Beware!  The time is now!  The window of opportunity for this group of Falcons will close sooner than later.  By most expert opinions, the Falcons have one of the top five most talented rosters in the NFL. They've had one of the most talented rosters in the league but have come up painfully short.

But don't take my word for it.  Among the many folks predicting glory for the Falcons, USA Today's Nate Davis predicts the Falcons will win the Super Bowl. If that happens, and I pray it does, the Falcons will be the first team to ever play and win a Super Bowl on their home field!

Davis says, and I agree, that big improvement in year two under offensive coordinator, Steve Sarkisian is the biggest factor in reaching the team's championship goals.

A repeat of what happened in year two under Kyle Shanahan is our best hope (except for the Super Bowl meltdown). After a shaky first year, Shanahan led a record-breaking offense to the Super Bowl.

The difference this time is that the defense is better --full of quick, aggressive and young players.

But again, that window stays open only so long.  Rookie contracts will soon expire and not all of them will be a resigned. The time is now!

The team, as it's constituted right now can win the Super Bowl. But as we all know, you don't go to the big game just because you want to. Many things have to fall in place. One big one just did. Julio is back in the Brotherhood, and if he performs like he should, the Falcons will be better for it.

Five of the Falcons first seven games are at home. A successful run during that stretch will help assure that the last one played at home will be on Sunday, February 3, 2019.
