ATLANTA - The Braves are making a trade with the San Diego Padres for slugging outfielder Matt Kemp. In return, Atlanta is sending outfielder Hector Olivera, who was most recently with the Gwinnett Braves.
A two-time All-Star, Kemp is in his 11th season and 2nd in San Diego. He's hitting .262 with 23 home runs -- the latter is better than any current Braves player.
Olivera is still suspended after a domestic violence arrest in April. His suspension is scheduled to end on Tuesday.
The MLB Trade Deadline is Monday.
