SUWANEE, Ga. (FOX 5 Atlanta) - The Atlanta Super Bowl Host Committee is doing more than preparing for the big game.
Wednesday night, they held a Gwinnett Girls in the Game Rally.
The rally is a celebration of the 19 teams participating in the Gwinnett Girls Flag Football League.
Gwinnett County is the first school district in Georgia to adopt girls flag football as a sanctioned sport.
The county teamed up with the Atlanta Falcons and the NFL to get the league up and running.
But how does the Atlanta Super Bowl Host Committee fit in?
According to event organizers, representatives from schools across the state attended Wednesday night's festivities in the hopes of bringing girls flag football programs back to their own schools.
