Alliance of American Football's future in doubt
ATLANTA (FOX 5 Atlanta) - A new football league in Atlanta is facing an uncertain future. Amid reports the league is getting ready to suspend operations, a current player in the Alliance of American Football tells FOX 5 that team equipment is currently being packed up and shipped out of town.
Pro Football Talk reported on Tuesday the AAF -- which includes the Atlanta Legends -- will suspend all football operations very soon. The website says the league is not folding at the moment, but is "moving in that direction."
The player told FOX 5 that he and his teammates have not heard anything official from their team.
The AAF started in 2019 as a spring football league, giving fans an opportunity to watch the sport during the NFL's offseason and giving players a chance to gain exposure to get to the NFL. The Atlanta Legends play at Georgia State Stadium, going 2-6 so far this season.
