Woodstock Man Arrested after Videotaping Woman at Gym

A Woodstock man has been arrested after police said he videotaped women as they undressed at a local fitness center. Police said 25-year-old Giovanni Calleja took video of women in the tanning rooms at the Anytime Fitness in Canton.

“I think that it's really creepy,” said Joshah Jones who is a member here. Other members told FOX 5 they've seen Calleja at the gym a lot.

Police said Friday, August 21st, a woman was in the tanning room when she looked up and saw a hand reach over the adjacent wall with a cellphone. The woman told the managers who called police and followed Calleja to his car. Detectives confiscated his cellphone. Police said they believe he may have been videotaping women for the past year, and there are likely other victims.

“There's going to be numerous from what we can tell,” said Canton Police Chief Mark Mitchell.

Calleja is charged with a felony count of eavesdropping. His membership to the gym has been canceled and access to Anytime Fitness clubs worldwide has been de-activated.

“It's disgusting, just really low for a guy to do this to someone and I really feel sorry for the women,” said Andrea McEliece who is a member at the gym and said she's always felt safe here. She said she's also thankful that the managers at the gym acted so quickly and were able to stop Calleja before he left.

Management at the fitness center is working with police and has handed the tanning bed access logs, to help find other victims. If you think you may have been one of the women captured on video, give the Canton Police Department a call at 770-720-4883.
