Woman's body found in trunk after road rage incident
Investigators in Kaufman County are trying to identify the body found in the trunk of a car after a road rage incident.
The initial 911 call came in around 10:30 a.m. Sunday in Forney. A group of four people said a man in another car had fired a gun at them while they were driving on Highway 80.
Dispatch officers gave sheriff’s deputies a vehicle description and the suspect was spotted in the area a short time later.
Deputies chased the suspect on Interstate 20 until he crashed in eastern Kaufman County. He was identified as 33-year-old Freddie Gilbert of New Orleans and taken into custody without incident.
Investigators said the body in the trunk was discovered as deputies were searching Gilbert’s car.
The sheriff's office said the body is that of a female. The Dallas County Medical Examiner's office will make a positive identification and determine her cause of death.
No injuries were reported in the road rage incident.
In addition to charges for evading arrest, Gilbert is also facing drug charges because bags of marijuana and crack cocaine were allegedly found in his anal cavity as he was being booked into jail.
