Woman's body found in car at Cobb County apartment complex

COBB COUNTY, Ga. (FOX 5 Atlanta) - Police are investigating after a woman was found dead at a Cobb County apartment complex.

Cobb County police officers were called out to the Caswyck Trail Apartments on Favor Road at around 7 a.m. Tuesday after someone discovered a woman’s body in a car in the complex parking lot.

“At this moment the whole area right here is a crime scene,” Cobb County Police Officer Neil Penirelli told FOX 5’s Deidra Dukes.

Police couldn’t say how long the woman’s body was in a red sedan in the parking lot before being discovered, or how she died but ruled her death a homicide.

Monica Williams lives near the complex and checked on her friend after hearing the news.

“I seen (sic) on the news that somebody died so I came over to check on my friend. I just spoke to the people over here about what happened”, said Williams.

Tuesday afternoon, police were still working to make a positive identification.

Detectives got a search warrant to enter an apartment they’ve linked to the victim, but aren’t saying what they found, or confirming neighbors’ claims that the woman lived at the complex with her children.

“Investigators did search an apartment. I do not know If it was her apartment, whose apartment it was. My investigators did obtain a search warrant and search one of the apartments on the scene over here,” said Officer Penirelli.
