ROCKDALE COUNTY, Ga. - A Conyers man is being credited for pulling an elderly resident from a burning building.
Rockdale County Firefighters responded to Chelsea Downs Drive after a neighbor reported a house fire. They found the wall and floor on fire near the front door.
A neighbor, Clayton Christian, said he and his wife came home to find their neighbor’s home on fire. While his wife called 911, Christian called out for the woman. He said when he got no response he covered his face and ran into the home looking for her. He found her upstairs unconscious and was able to safely pull her from the burning building.
The woman, whose name has not yet been released, was taken to an area hospital suffering from smoke inhalation. Her condition was not immediately known.
The cause of fire is under investigation.
