Alpharetta resident Julianna Shedrawy, 49, was heading south in a black Nissan Infiniti when the vehicle was struck by flying debris. A tire and wheel had flown over the median wall and hit her vehicle in the southbound lanes, authorities said.

Shedrawy was pronounced dead at the scene, Sandy Springs police said in a statement. Her family has been notified.

Police investigators determined the wheel came off a truck traveling northbound due to a mechanical failure. Nobody was charged in the incident as of Thursday afternoon.

Two lanes of traffic were blocked while police investigated the accident.

An online account has been set up for Julianna Shedrawy’s two children, Madison, 10, and Mikayla, 17. Anyone who would like to donate can do so at https://www.gofundme.com/mampm-college-fund
