Woman injured after tree limb falls on DeKalb County home
DeKALB COUNTY, Ga. - A woman was injured when a tree limb fell on her DeKalb County home early Wednesday morning.
The limb landed on the roof of the house, which is located in the 1900 block of North Decatur Road.
Paramedics said the victim was asleep at the time. Her injuries are described as minor. Friends or family had already taken her to the hospital by the time authorities arrived.
Witnesses said it was storming when the limb fell.
Emmanul Petkas lives around the corner and said the tree is located on his lot. He told FOX 5 the thunder knocked him out of bed. Petkas went into the attic and discovered a hole in his roof. He also showed us debris from the tree that scattered more than 100 feet.
According to Petkas the tree is a poplar which an arborist told him was 150 years old. He said the tree, which appears to be the tallest in the area, was hit by lightning about 10 years ago.
