FLOYD COUNTY, Ga. (FOX 5 Atlanta) - A Cartersville woman is facing some serious charges after police say she provided alcohol and other contraband to prison inmates out on a work detail. Officers say one of those inmates is her boyfriend.
Exclusive dash cam video FOX 5 News obtained shows Floyd County police officers arresting a sobbing Cartersville woman. The woman who authorities have now identified as Angela Chastain is accused of providing alcohol, tobacco, and cellphones to prison inmates working in a prison release detail at Johnson Elementary School on Morrison Campground Road. Investigators said officers were called to the school at around 11 Monday night when a burglar alarm at the school went off. When they got there, they found a prison detail van in the parking lot but something else caught them off-guard.
The inmates were there as part of a contracted work release program. That day they were there pressure washing the bus drop-off area. Officers searched the vehicle and eventually, Chastain is seen walking up to them. He tells them the detail officer said it was okay for her to be there.
Officers then spoke with all five inmates along with the detail supervisor. What they found then was even more shocking.
