You'll be waking up to much cooler temperatures Thursday morning after a cold front moved through Georgia Wednesday afternoon. Higher elevations could get some light snow and have areas of black ice through mid-morning.

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect until 10 a.m. Thursday for the following counties: Dade, Walker, Murray, Fannin, Gilmer, Union, Towns, Pickens, Dawson, Lumpkin, and White.

Wednesday, the front brought mostly heavy rain and wind to north Georgia, but the same system spawned nearly a dozen tornadoes across the South including some in south Georgia.

The metro Atlanta area is up over 4 inches over the average rainfall for the year, with more than 12 and a half inches having fallen so far. A Flood Watch has since expired, but several creeks and rivers are under a Flood Warning, but those are not expected to cause a significant impact to any populated areas.

The system has moved out of the state, but some light precipitation lingers over north Georgia. Light accumulation of an inch or less is expected, mostly in grassy and shaded areas.

Metro Atlanta could see a snowflake or two, but shouldn't expect any of those flakes to stick. Again, the greater the chance of snow is in the far north and at higher elevations.

Lows the rest of the week will be below freezing with highs reaching the upper 40s to low 50s.
