Why did the bear cross the road? The answer won't surprise you

So, why did the bear cross the road? To get to the other side of course.

FOX 5 viewer Lauren Faulkner shots this bear near Hawks Ridge Drive in Ball Ground Saturday evening. Lauren said she and her sister out walking their dog when they spotted the bear. They said it appeared to be the size of a golf cart.

The sister said they have never seen a bear in their neighborhood before, but they believe it was scavenging around some around a new home which was being built, possibly hoping some workers left food or trash.

Georgia has about 2,200 bears statewide, according to the Georgia Department of Natural Resources. State experts advise anyone who sees a bear to stay as far away as possible and let it do its thing. Anything a person does to alter a bear’s behavior could put their safety in jeopardy. But they are not normally aggressive if they don’t feel threatened.

Experts also recommend making sure all garbage is secure, pet food is inaccessible, and even to remove the feed from bird feeders for at least two weeks after spotting a bear to help prevent any further close encounters.
