Weather service confirms 5 twisters in Alabama

The National Weather Service now says five tornadoes struck Alabama earlier this week.

Assessment teams have determined that three twisters touched down in southeast Alabama Tuesday night. One of the tornadoes was rated an EF-O storm, and the other two were EF-1 tornadoes.

The weather service says one of those EF-1 tornadoes damaged multiple homes in Dothan. It was about 350 yards wide at its largest and stayed on the ground nearly two miles.

Forecasters previously said weak tornadoes touched down in Perry and Marion counties on Tuesday.
