Video: Thieves almost run over woman during slider crime
CONYERS, Ga. (FOX 5 Atlanta) - Police have an urgent manhunt for the thieves who stole a woman's car and almost ran her over.
The ordeal happened Thursday afternoon shortly before 1 at the Valero gas station off West Avenue. The frightening encounter was captured on surveillance and shared with FOX 5 News.
Police said as the victim attempted to fill up her gas tank in her 2019 Jeep Cherokee Latitude, a possible Hyundai Santa Fe pulled up beside her; surveillance shows one of the three men in the vehicle sneak into her driver's seat and drives off.
The victim tells FOX 5 News when she saw her vehicle moving, her instinct was to grab onto the car.
"I looked at the driver and the people in the car behind him – at that point, I was already being dragged across the ground," said Cassandra Colley. "They could have killed me for my car," the mother of twins said, grateful to be bruised yet alive.
There's a lookout for Colley's vehicle: 2019 Jeep Cherokee Latitude with tag RIU9603.
Investigators said a vehicle that looked like the Hyundai Santa Fe was spotted later that day in South Fulton County at the BP gas station off Cascade Road; a woman's purse was snatched from the car.
