A police chase ended in a dramatic crash on camera at 16 Mile and Harper Tuesday afternoon.

The female suspect struck and brought down a pole and traffic light with a 5-year-old child inside. The child- who was restrained inside - was not injured according to police and the suspect was taken into custody.

Clinton Township police were investigating a suspicious vehicle at a business at 15 Mile and Gratiot at about 4 p.m. when the driver, a 27-year-old from Southfield, suddenly took off. The driver struck a police vehicle, but the officer was not injured.

Video from witness Youssef Bazzi recorded the suspect's silver car hitting a curb and careen into the light pole before coming to a rest in a cloud of dust.

"I heard it coming," Bazzi told FOX 2 over the phone. "I saw the (driver) flying down 16 Mile and you could see all the cops with lights on behind (them). I don't even know how I got my phone out and started recording.

"It was crazy. I prayed to God no one get hurt. I'm still shocked."

Bazzi provided video to FOX 2 of the crash (above). The driver is facing child endangerment charges as well as fleeing and eluding police, according to investigators.

Police say the driver suffered only minor injuries but her identity has not been released pending her arraignment. The child has been turned over to the family.
