Video: Officers save man from burning home

HENRY COUNTY, Ga. - A heroic rescue was caught on body cam video.

Two Henry County law enforcement officers put their lives on the line to pull a man from a burning home.

Authorities say Officer Alex Maddox and Deputy Justin Benefield responded to a house fire on River View Court in Hampton last Thursday night.

They learned a 21-year-old man was still inside.

The pair tried to go in through the front door, but say there was too much smoke.

They paused to take a second breath and then pushed ahead into the house.

Authorities told the victim had burns on more than 30 percent of his body.

Thanks to the actions of the two officers, he survived.

He was listed in serious condition at Grady Memorial Hospital as of Monday evening.
