Vice President Mike Pence is scheduled to appear with Republican nominee Brian Kemp at three rallies around the state on Thursday.
Pence and Kemp appeared at the Dalton Convention Center at 11:30 Thursday morning, and will be followed by stops in Grovetown and Savannah.
Pence supported Kemp's bid for Governor during the GOP primary runoff and attended a rally in Macon in July.
On Sunday, President Donald Trump will make a trip to Georgia to campaign with Kemp in Macon.
Trump's scheduled appearance sidelined the second and final scheduled between Kemp and Abrams.
The two campaigns agreed in September to debate. But Kemp's campaign said President Trump's schedule takes precedence. Trump is coming to Macon, about 100 miles south of Atlanta, to hold a campaign rally with Kemp at 4 p.m. The debate between Kemp and Abrams was originally scheduled for 5 p.m. that same day.
Recent polls suggest Abrams and Kemp are deadlocked in the highly contested race to succeed term-limited Governor Nathan Deal.
