Grammy award winning artist Usher took time on National Volunteer Week to stop by and help out at an Atlanta YMCA.

Usher Raymond IV and the organizations Points of Light and Usher's New Look are teaming up to promote service and volunteering in local communities.

The surprise visit happened at the Andrew & Walter Young family YMCA, where Usher read to YMCA preschool students, and participated in painting and gardening around the facility, playground, and Aquaponics center.

National Volunteer Week is an annual public awareness campaign that celebrates the impact of volunteerism and the power of service to bring people together to tackle tough challenges, create change, and build stronger, more vibrant communities.

In addition to today's visit, Usher is planning on volunteer two more times on Saturday to help with service projects around the Atlanta community.

Usher's New Look, founded by Grammy Award winning entertainer Usher Raymond IV in 1999, is a nonprofit youth organization on a mission to develop the next generation of global youth leaders through a 10-year comprehensive leadership program.

Points of Light, the world's largest organization dedicated to volunteer service, mobilizes millions of people to take action that is changing the world.
