UGA Pool Day

In lieu of practice, the Georgia football team worked on their dog paddle. With rain keeping the team from their scheduled practice on Monday, head coach Mark Richt renewed a tradition and took his team to the pool in Gabrielsen Natatorium.

"Well there’s a certain time during camp when just you need one of those days, and a lot of times it has to do with the weather," said Richt. "We had a little bit of a warning that there might be some weather coming in and instead of sitting around waiting all day to practice, we decided to come on and do it."

Richt has taken teams to the pool before during past preseason camps, and he said his guys looked more like "jumpers, not really divers” on Monday.

Players took to the top of the highest diving platform and jumped off -- including some who looked to be facing their fears high above the water.

"It's like your momma telling you don't go jump off a cliff," said Bulldogs linebacker D'Andre Walker after his leap. "Well I do it for my team! I just jumped! I closed my eyes, my stomach went ... and boom!"

Richt wasn't the only coach in on the action: head men's basketball coach Mark Fox took the plunge as well.

"Anything for the Dawg Nation, right?" said Fox.

The Bulldogs return to practice Tuesday.
