Fire officials said two young girls are dead after a mobile home fire in Walker County early Tuesday morning

Glenn Allen, a spokesman for the Office of Commissioner of Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner, said the fire broke out around 6 a.m. on Caribou Lane in Chickamauga. Allen said the parents were able to get three of their children safely out of the home, but were unable to reach their Nataleigh Long, 6, and Jocelin Long, 8 months.

Fire officials believe the fire started because of a lit candle. Investigators do not believe there was a working smoke alarm in the home.

Two adults and three children were treated for minor smoke inhalation at an area hospital.

Allen said 92 people have died in residential fires since the beginning of the year.
