ATLANTA - Two women are facing charges after Atlanta police shut down an unlicensed nightclub operating in southwest Atlanta following months of complaints from neighbors.
What we know:
According to the Atlanta Police Department, the business known as Rell’s Room on Cascade Road had been under investigation since September 2025.
Residents reported concerns about after-hours activity, unlicensed operations and suspected illegal alcohol sales. Police said the business did not have a valid license and had been denied a state alcohol permit but continued to host nightlife events and promote them online.
Officers executed a search warrant at the location around 2:59 a.m. on March 29. Investigators said the operators, identified as Sharell Reed, 34, and Shatara Churn, 52, attempted to flee but were quickly detained and arrested without incident.
Inside the business, officers found what they described as nightclub-style conditions and seized about 120 containers of alcohol, along with surveillance equipment and other evidence. Police said both women are charged with operating a business without a license and illegal alcohol sales. Reed also faces additional charges related to outstanding auto theft warrants.
