Two families flee condo fire in Cobb County

A fire early Monday morning forced two families to run from their homes, some without shoes, to escape the blaze.

The flames started at a condo on Barrington Overlook, and raced through the home. Family members smelled smoke and saw it streaming from the basement.

All five, including a baby, made it to safety.

The home shares a wall with an adjoining condo. Marietta fire officials said the fire wall saved much of that structure. Two inside that home escaped as well.

Crews are now making sure the fire is completely out.

The Red Cross will be assisting all seven people who were displaced.  No injuries were reported.
