The names of the two men killed in a fire Friday morning in Douglas County have been released.

The fire started shortly after 6 a.m. at a home on Villa Lane, authorities said. Firefighters were able to put out the flames soon after arriving. The Douglas County Sheriff's Department said searchers found the bodies of two men identified as Michael A. Miller, 71, and Randall Dyer, 55.

Those who knew the victims were heartbroken

“He was a good guy. He would give you the shirt off his back,” Torrey Caldwell spoke about Miller, for whom Caldwell had done some odd jobs around the house.

Dyer had only been living with the homeowner for a few months, according to neighbors.

“The other man was somebody he took in. That's just how good he was,” Caldwell said.

The investigation into the fire is in its early stages. The Douglas County Sheriff’s Department Major Case Unit and the Douglas County Fire Department will both be involved in that investigation.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation conducted autopsies on the men Saturday, but the results have not yet been released. Investigators said they are still waiting on the results of the toxicology reports.

Investigators said there were no signs of foul play.
