Tropical Depression Bonnie has made landfall in South Carolina.

Bonnie weakened from a tropical storm to a tropical depression Sunday morning. Look for rain, some wind, and choppy surf to some of the beaches of the Carolinas and Georgia through this Memorial Day holiday weekend.

Bonnie is  the season's second-named tropical storm, four days before the official start of hurricane season in the Atlantic Ocean.

Forecasters expect a near-normal Atlantic hurricane season, after three relatively slow years. But they also say climate conditions that influence storm development are making it difficult to predict how many hurricanes and tropical storms will arise over the next six months.

The Atlantic hurricane season officially starts June 1.
