Troopers search for 'persons of interest' in deadly hit and run

PAULDING COUNTY, Ga. - The Georgia State Patrol released surveillance photos of individuals who troopers are calling persons of interest in a deadly hit and run over the weekend.

It happened Sunday night just after 10:15 p.m. along Holly Springs Road near Highway 113. Troopers said Joshua Smith, 19, of Rockmart, was killed while walking west along Holly Spring Road. A witness, who called 911, told investigators the vehicle didn’t stop.

Troopers said they are searching a dark pickup truck with a lift kit, oversized tires, and a loud exhaust.

Monday night, troopers released images of individuals who investigators want to speak with about the crash.
