Thursday might be a good day to work from home or at very least, avoid the Downtown Connector.

Several major events will be culminating in a perfect storm for Atlanta drivers during the afternoon and early evening hours.

The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets are kicking off its season at Bobby Dodd Stadium against Alcorn State at 7:30 p.m.

At the Georgia Dome, about 65,000 fans will pack downtown to see the Balitomore Ravens and the Atlanta Falcons at 7 p.m.

And expect road closures on the connector and some surface streets as Vice President Biden visits. He is expected to give a speech at the Ahavath Achim Synagogue in Buckhead around 7:30 p.m.

Of course, if that wasn't enough there are also arrivals for multiple festivities and games in Atlanta this weekend including DragonCon downtown. And then there are those escaping the city early to turn a 3-day weekend into 4 days off.

The Georgia Department of Transportation said that they wanted to make sure that drivers "Drive Alert. Arrive Alive." They advise motorists to call 511 for traffic updates.

So, traffic is expected to nothing short than a nightmare. Don’t say we didn’t warn you!
