Tracking rain and possible severe storms

ATLANTA - Metro Atlanta is under a marginal risk for severe thunderstorms as rain rolls through the area. 

Heavy rain and lightning continues to move out of metro Atlanta, and will continue through late afternoon across east Georgia and western South Carolina. There is a chance that a storm or two reaches severe levels due to damaging wind gusts.  

By late this afternoon and this evening clearing skies will develop across all of north Georgia. Gusty winds will also continue through this evening before calming down later tonight.

We'll end the afternoon on a quieter note. Sunshine will return for the afternoon as conditions dry out and clear out from the west.
