Thousands of people gather in Atlanta's Piedmont Park this weekend for Music Midtown.

This year's festival featured performances by Bruno Mars, Mumford & Sons, Future, Blink 182, Wiz Khalifa, Weezer and many other artists. Performances began at 12:30 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday.

The event took place in the area of Piedmont Avenue and Monroe Drive. Beginning Saturday at 8 a.m., road closures will be in effect in the area of 10th Street between Piedmont Avenue and Monroe Drive. Parking will be limited in that area, due to the number of people expected to attend. Atlanta Police are urging attendees to take MARTA and avoid parking illegally in surrounding neighborhoods.

Chief Erika Shields said officers have a comprehensive plan in place to ensure a safe weekend.

"We will utilize our patrol officers and various discretionary units to monitor the event, making safety a priority while attendees enjoy the festivities," Shields said.

Everyone entering the festival was subjected to search. Only drawstring bags and small clutch purses were allowed inside, approximately 10"x 10" x 10".
