Thief Stealing Home Surveillance Camera Caught on Video

Atlanta Police are asking for your help identifying two crooks seen in home surveillance video stealing items including the surveillance camera.

Investigators said a man forced his way into the Highland View Apartments on Ponce de Leon Place just before four in the afternoon.

The apartment complex sent out an email to the residents to let them know about the break-in.

“I was nervous especially because we live on the ground floor,” said Jessica Vargas who lives in the apartment complex. “Kind of nerve-wracking that someone can just come in.”

In the video you see the crook making his way through the apartment, picking up things that catch his eye.  At one point he even lets in a friend.  Police said they stole several items including an Xbox, Laptop, power cords, hats, sunglasses and the surveillance camera.

Neighbors said they see the benefits of home surveillance cameras and how it can help fight crime.

“I think it’s great, I actually have one in my house too and if anything were to happen like that, than hopefully you’ll be able to identify who it was,” said Sara Botto.

“I think that is something we would be interested in.  Even when they sent the email to say the person had a video that was something that went through my head, if maybe we should do something like that,” said Vargas.
