'The Walking Dead' donates items to the Smithsonian

The zombie apocalypse has made its way to the National Museum of American History In Washington, DC.

AMC'S 'The Walking Dead,' which is shot right here in Georgia, has donated several costumes and props to the Smithsonian.

The museum wanted the items because it helps depict the "American experience."

Organizers have not yet announced a date for 'The Walking Dead' exhibit to go on display. But a date for the show’s Season 8 premiere has been set. That will air Oct. 22.

The show will feature its 100th episode this season

'The Walking Dead' is primarily filmed in Senoia, but also shoots some scenes at the former Fort McPherson military base in Atlanta, where Tyler Perry has studio space. It also has spent some time filming on Tybee Island, on the coast of Georgia.
