SWAT standoff ends in an arrest at Roswell hotel

Roswell Police said a man who barricaded himself inside a Roswell hotel has been taken into custody early Wednesday evening.

This started as a request to remove a guest from the Ramada Inn located at 3020 Mansell Road in Roswell a little after 2 p.m., police said. Staff told officers the man was causing a disturbance in the lobby, but police said the man had gone back inside his hotel room.

Officers attempted to speak with man, but police said he threatened to shoot the officers. That is when the North Fulton SWAT and Crisis Negotiations Team was called to the scene.

A little after 5 p.m., SWAT team members entered the room after police said the man cut off communications with the negotiator. The man, who was only identified as being in his 50s, was subdued using a Taser, police said.

Police said no weapons were found in the room.

He was check out by medics at the scene and taken to jail. His charges were not immediately known.

Police said it was not clear if the man was under the influence at the time.
