SWAT stand off at Cobb County motel ends peacefully
COBB COUNTY, Ga. - A six-hour SWAT standoff at a Cobb County hotel ended peacefully Tuesday.
It happened at the Armada Inn on the 5300 block of South Cobb Drive. The Douglas County Sheriff's Office, with the help of deputies in Cobb County, were serving a warrant out of Douglasville for a man at the hotel. Officials said he barricaded himself inside a room and the SWAT team was brought in to help with the situation.
Several roads around the hotel were blocked during the incident and many of the residents at the hotel were evacuated during the standoff.
Just after 5 p.m. while FOX 5's Portia Bruner was reporting live from outside the hotel, deputies escorted a man with no shirt and in handcuffs out of the hotel. Deputies gave him some water before placing him in a patrol car. The name of the man taken into custody has not yet been released.
No word on any injuries.
