1/2 to 1 inch of snow expected

Residents of the North Georgia mountains woke up to some light snow on Sunday morning.

Snow started falling in the mountains of Union County before sunrise. It didn't take long for it it to stick. Car windshields were covered, as were grassy areas. A plow was seen clearing Highway 19.

The National Weather Service had issued a Winter Weather Advisory for mountain area counties. By mid-morning, the snow had ended. Drivers are urged to watch for slick spots on any roads that have accumulated snow.

FOX 5 Meteorologist Adam Klotz says the moisture has moved out of the area and we should expect very cold temperatures next week.
