Six Fayette County teens arrested for burglary

Six Fayette County teenagers are in hot water after police said the gang members broke into a home. But the burglars were thwarted by another teenager home sick from school.

Tiffany White showed FOX 5 News how burglars kicked in her front door, setting off Buddy, the family’s Chihuahua. Tiffany said they went straight for her bedroom where they stole two safes, jewelry and shoes.  But something more precious was in the house at the time of the crime.

Jasmine, her 15-year-old daughter, was alerted by Buddy’s barking. She rushed to hide in her bedroom and called her stepfather for help.

“I was just praying that they would not come into my bedroom,” Jasmine said.

The investigation led to the arrest of six Fayette County teenagers, who have been charged in the crime and are being investigated for others. They are also being charged as gang members.

Sheriff Barry Babb said they won’t name the gang because notoriety is what they want.

“We are not going to give them the credibility they want.  It will all come out in court,” Sheriff Babb said.

Jasmine said she recognized the voice of family friend Weldon Turner. She also heard the sound of a semi-automatic pistol being cocked.

Turner was among the six teens charged.
