Shots fired near Fulton County high school
FULTON COUNTY, Ga. - As the country continues to mourn over the deadly mass shooting at a Florida high school, police are investigating after shots were fired near a Fulton County high school Friday morning.
An official with Fulton County Schools said shots were fired near the campus of Banneker High School on Feldwood Road in the early morning hours. As a result, the school was placed on a brief lockdown, which lasted several minutes.
No one was injured and all of the students are safe, Fulton County Schools said.
Police have identified the person suspected of opening fire, and investigators are confident they'll make an arrest. The suspected shooter is not a student at Banneker High.
Earlier this week, a gunman opened fire at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, killing 17 people.
