Atlanta Police are investigating a deadly shootout in southwest Atlanta Thursday night.

"We got a call around 8:30 p.m. to a person shot," Atlanta Police Lieutenant Tyus Carven said.

Police said once they arrived at the home off Nathan Road, they found two men shot on the driveway.

"One guy in his 20s was shot in the thigh," Lt. Carven said. "Paramedics pronounced the other man, who was in his 40s, dead on the scene."

Police said they believe the two men got into an argument that escalated quickly.

"We know they both pulled out guns and started shooting," Lt. Carven said.

Police said medics rushed the other man to Grady Memorial Hospital where he is expected to survive.

"He is not facing any charges at this time, but we are still talking to witnesses and it's still early on in the investigation," Lt. Carven said.
