Sheriff: Botched armed robbery turned into murder

Authorities in Clayton County have arrested three suspects charged with murder during a botched armed robbery attack.

The incident happened on Dec. 28 at a home on Autumn Drive in Jonesboro when four suspects, including a juvenile, tried to rob a drug dealer at gunpoint, the Clayton County Sheriff said.

Deputies say Juan Carlos Cortez shot at the dealer, who then returned fire, killing another one of the suspects, Rhattak Soy.

Cortez, Adrian Hernandez, and the unidentified juvenile now face charges of murder and attempted armed robbery.

Cortez and Hernandez are in custody at the Clayton County Jail. The juvenile is held at the Martha Glaze Juvenile Detention Center.
