Services Announced for 2 Teens Killed in Carroll County Crash with State Trooper
CARROLL COUNTY, Ga. - Services for the two teenagers who died Saturday night in a crash involving a state trooper have been announced.
A memorial in honor of Isabella Chinchilla, 16, and Kylie Lindsey, 17, is still growing at the accident site.
According to the Georgia State Patrol, four teenagers were inside a Nissan when the driver turned left into the path of a trooper's patrol car on GA 1. The GSP vehicle struck the Nissan on the passenger side around 11:35 p.m.
Chinchilla and Lindsey both died from their injuries.
Two male teenagers were transported to Grady Memorial Hospital for treatment.
"When they find out what went on that they were part of this, they are going to be devastated. Both of them are," said Lena Wall Worth, whose nephew Dillon Wall, 18, was driving at the time of the crash.
Worth said the fourth passenger was Wall's best friend, Benjamin Finken, 17, a junior at Douglas County High School.
According to Worth, both Wall and Finken sustained serious head injuries. Finken remained in the ICU Sunday evening.
Worth and Joy Wall, Dillon Wall's grandmother, stopped by the crash scene to take photos.
Worth said the intersection is known to be dangerous because of the steep hill leading to it. She believes the trooper should have slowed down as he approached the top of the hill and she said her nephew was not to blame for the collision.
"It's not his fault and in fact I think you can tell it's not his fault just from the markings on the ground," Worth explained.
She said Wall was a safe driver who had never been in an accident before.
Speaking on behalf of her entire family, Joy Wall extended condolences to the Chinchilla and Lindsey families.
"I ask that everybody would pray for [them because] we're praying for [them] too as they go through this journey in their life, which is a very difficult one," said Wall.
The GSP Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team continues to investigate the crash.
