Search for deadly hit and run driver

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Lawrenceville Police are asking for the public's help in catching a deadly hit and run driver.

Investigators said Tran Hong,79, was walking along the side of Johnson Road Monday afternoon when she was hit by a U-Haul truck near Daniel Drive.  Police think the U-Haul left the roadway before it hit Hong, who died at the scene.

Police said after hitting Hong, the U-Haul driver took off, leaving her to die. 

"Why?  Why didn't you stop?  I mean, that's it.  It's so simple," said Ronnie Spears, who ran to help Hong after the crash.  "That's a human being." 

Investigators don't have a good description of that driver, other than to say he's a male.

The U-Haul suffered damage as a result of the wreck.  It should be missing a portion of the right front headlight and corner light.
