Savannah enlisting neighborhoods for spring cleanup

SAVANNAH, Ga. (AP) - City officials in Savannah are enlisting neighborhoods to help with some spring cleaning.

The Great Savannah Cleanup, a partnership between City Hall and the group Keep Savannah Beautiful, kicked off Saturday and runs through May. Residents and volunteers were scheduled to pick up trash and tackle beautification projects in Savannah's Alpine Park neighborhood.

Savannah officials are asking other neighborhoods to organize similar cleanups in the next three months. City Hall is offering to provide supplies and guidance on projects from litter prevention to graffiti removal. City workers will even collect the trash bags at the end of each cleanup event.
