Sandy Springs School Donates Shoes to Needy

One Sandy Springs elementary school's annual fundraiser was a little different this year.

Not only did Spalding Drive students run 30 laps around the school gym to raise money for supplies and resources, but the school also collected hundreds of pairs of shoes to give away.

It's called Shoes for Paws and it started as an idea from 5-year-old Olivia Berry. The child noticed her family had extra shoes and she wanted to donate them. Her mom says the idea just grew from there.

The school gathered almost 600 pairs. Many will be cleaned up and shipped to third-world countries.

The rest will be donated to shelters in the metro Atlanta area.
