Russ Spencer
Russ Spencer anchors the 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. news on FOX 5 Atlanta. A veteran journalist, Russ has worked in the TV News business since 1983, spanning states from Pennsylvania, to North Carolina to Colorado before landing in Atlanta.
In the late 1980's, Russ took a break from television to teach school and work as a freelance journalist in Central America. He became fluent in Spanish and had hoped to become a foreign correspondent but fate had other plans for Russ. He met his wife in the classroom next door and together they now have six children.

Russ was in Central America to report on the historic vote overthrowing the Sandinistas in Nicaragua in 1990. He has also reported from the Middle East — briefly. But he's glad to be close to home most of the time.
Russ used to play a lot of golf and tennis. Now, he watches his kids play ball and has become an expert at singing the songs on Teletubbies, Barney, and The Wiggles from memory. Don't tempt him.
Russ has received 11 Regional Emmy awards during his time in Atlanta, including seven for Best Newscast and two for Best Anchor.
He graduated from Princeton University with a degree in English Literature, which comes in handy from time to time — to the surprise and relief of his parents.
Russ and his family live in Alpharetta.
